The Elements of Love

The Four Elements

The Elements of Love

If I were but a breeze at play,
I’d dance through where your soft locks stray,
I’d kiss the crown upon your head,
And carry forth your scent, unfaded.

If I were earth beneath your feet,
I’d hold you in my cool retreat,
A pillar for your steps of light,
With every mark, my heart’s delight.

If I were fire with golden flame,
I’d shine across your moonlit frame,
Reflecting within your shining eyes,
And guard their warmth where time defies.

If I were but a gentle stream,
I’d glide around you like a dream,
Reflecting you in water blue,
And hold your beauty ever true.

If I were wind, if I were stone,
If fire and river were my own,
I’d steep within your fragrant air,
Beneath your step, steadfast and fair,
Warmed by the kindness in your gaze,
Enchanted by your moonlit face—
Forever free, no chains to bind,
Released in love, in soul, in mind.
